Children's Garden June and Midland Clean Up Days

After the soggiest May on record, we find our gardens woefully behind schedule! Some hot sunshine is needed to perk up all of the living plants and, to sprout what seeds have been replanted. Most likely, we will be doing some replanting as we determine which beds are not producing, at all! In addition, the rascally rabbits have been enjoying our lettuces and so we did put up the orange construction fencing which seems to be keeping the critters out.  On the bright side, we have not had to work too hard at watering! If you are not able to keep your watering commitment, please call Patty Donovan (719)331-4831. Several families are willing to help with watering.  Please consider coming out on Saturday, July 11 to join with the Westside Community Center to do work on the following projects:

Outside work:

1. Paint the Kindergarten playground wood and swing set frame.

2. Weed the Kg. playground, front flowerbed, driveway circle flowerbeds, back playground wood chipped areas

3. Mow the ground between the two parking lots

4. Mow between Broadway and the fences

5. Repaint the foursquare and wall ball lines

Inside work:

1. Weatherproof the inside of the breezeway (pull off inner baseboards, expand foam under the walls re-attach the inner baseboards, caulk along bottom and tops of inner baseboards) (expand foam and/or caulk along the upper wall and ceiling, also along edges where breezeway meets the west wing of building)  (also, the outside of the north side can be caulked and sealed all along the bottom baseboard edges where the water leaks underneath)

2. Repaint the main hallway walls with the matching colors by section.
