My name is Cynthia Emery, and I am proud to serve as the principal of Midland Elementary. I began my journey in education as a recess aide, an experience that sparked my love for working with students and supporting their growth. I am originally from Utah and have also lived in Idaho, Washington, Missouri, and Kansas (Go Wildcats!). Those experiences have shaped who I am as an educator and leader.
I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade as a classroom teacher, and I have worked with students in kindergarten through 5th grade as an instructional coach and academic interventionist, providing math and reading interventions. These roles have helped shape my belief in meeting students where they are and supporting the success of every learner.
Outside of school, I am a parent to two children and have three dogs. I love spending time outdoors with my family, especially hiking and paddle boarding with my kids and dogs. In my free time, I also train and compete in agility with my border collie, Victra. I feel honored to be part of the Midland Elementary community and look forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to support a positive, welcoming, and successful learning environment for all.
Greetings,
I’m Lori Lujan, the Dean of Students here at Midland Elementary School. This is my 6th year at Midland and I look forward to growing and learning more in my role to provide better service to our students and their families. I hold a Professional School Counselor license and Principal license. I am a National Dropout Prevention Center Trauma Skilled Specialist. I also consider myself a pretty good yo-yo thrower.
I enjoy working with all of our students in building a safe and fun learning environment. My goal is to support families and students in having strong attendance and academic success. I plan to do this by continuously monitoring each student’s attendance and being in regular communication with families whose students are struggling to attend on a regular basis. I plan to support academic success by supporting students in making good choices that allow themselves and others to learn in a safe environment. I also enjoy looking at how I can bring community members together with the Midland Community to form strong relationships.
When I am not at school, I enjoy photography, cheering on my Denver Broncos, visiting outdoor spaces around the city, and spending time with my family. I enjoy spending time on my e-mountain bike. My home away from home at our family cabin provides me with rest and rejuvenation.
I look forward to a safe, fun and successful school year with my Midland family. Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can support your student and family in any way.
