Both of my parent’s have been teaching in School District 11 for almost 40 years. My mom just retired from Coronado after teaching for 37 years in total in District 11. She also attended Elementary, Middle and High school in District 11. My dad has been at Palmer High School since 1991 teaching Social Studies in the IB Program. Before my parent’s my grandfather was a high school counselor at both Mitchell and Palmer. My Opa was also a high school Social Studies teacher for 40 years in New Jersey. Also, my sister is a drama teacher in District 11. You could say teaching is in my blood.
In my spare time, you will usually find me out and about or rewatching New Girl for the 10th time. I am so excited to join the Midland team this year. GO MUSTANGS!
Kindergarten
Hello there! My name is Hannah Shaw and I am a Kindergarten teacher here at Midland! I am a Midwest girl, growing up in Iowa and Minnesota, and my family still lives in the Midwest. I graduated from high school in Iowa, played a year of basketball at a college in Michigan, and then ended up transferring to and graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a double bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood!
Right out of college, I took a job in Topeka, Kansas and taught Kindergarten for 5 years there. Then, my cousin set me up with a guy named Danny Shaw, and now I have been married to Danny for almost 10 years and this is my 12th year teaching at Midland! Time flies!
Kindergarten is my true passion and I know that it is my calling in life. Watching young people inquire about their world, get excited about learning new things, and come out of their shell in a kind and respectful way is the reason I love teaching!
My family consists of my wonderful husband, Danny, who has also been a Kindergarten teacher here in the past, and my 2 daughters – one is 12 and one is 2! If I'm not teaching, you might find me fishing with my husband, playing music, watching the Broncos, or hanging out with my friends! I truly enjoy life and the wonderful family and friends I have in it! I am so glad I get to work at Midland! It's a wonderful place!
