Special Education Team
Aloha! My name is Rayna Mendiola and I am the new Special Education Teacher at Midland Elementary.
I am originally from the beautiful state of Hawai’i and worked for the Department of Human Services as a licensing social worker and a case manager for over 10 years. I moved to Colorado Springs, got married, and was blessed with being a stay-at-home mom for a few years and then I got my calling to become an educator. I received my post baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education when I moved to California and taught in Los Angeles for 2 years. I returned to Colorado Springs and received my master’s degree in special education, and I have been a special educator ever since for the past 5 years.
My ohana (family)consists of my husband, son, and fur baby Hoku (my 4-year-old Bull Mastiff). In my free time I love to teach dance fitness, spend time with my family and friends, and most recently watching my son play lacrosse. I also love sharing my Hawaiian culture with anyone that asks!
I absolutely love growing my students and helping them to achieve their goals! I am looking forward to a successful school year and so excited to join the Midland Elementary ohana (family).
Hi, I am Miss Julie. I started at Midland 26 years ago in different part-time positions, then I went full-time with SPED 23 years ago. Both my daughters attended Midland. Now both of my granddaughters are going to Midland.
