Special Education Team

Hello! I’m Deborah Ray, and I’m excited to join Midland Elementary as a paraprofessional! I have always thought that education is the foundation of success and look forward to helping young students build a strong foundation for—and love for—lifelong learning.

I am on my second (or third or fourth?) career now, recently bringing a 30-year career in technical publishing to a close. Among many other projects, I developed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses at three universities, and I also worked as a para, classroom mom, and cafeteria aide at my kids’ K-8 charter school for a time. It’s been my goal since then to one day retire from my career and return to a school environment in a support role.

As part of that goal, I recently moved back to Colorado after eight years in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. I just couldn’t stay away from the magical views, crisp air, and steadfast mountains that tell me which direction is west. Outside of work, I love spending time with my better half and adult kids, as well as hiking, painting (acrylics), birdwatching, and otherwise exploring nature.
